Ashley Young is near to agreeing a new one-year contract.
Talks over an extension began and are progressing well, with team officials pleased about Young’s presence in the dressing room and on the pitch.
Young is one of United players and has also been made skipper in the ongoing absence of team captain Antonio Valencia.
The Stevenage-born player, who started off as a forward but switched to full-back later in his career, has made 228 looks for United since linking pound & for;17m out of Aston Villa in 2011.
He is one of only five players in the present team to have won a Premier League name in their time.
