Giovinazzi was given his fulltime F1 break this season after working as a development driver for Ferrari since 20 17, when he made his F1 race introduction for being a two-race substitute for Sauber’s Pascal Wehrlein.
Alfa has taken over the name of Sauber’s F1 entrance, which finished eighth in the constructors’ championship and ended the season as a normal threat.
Speaking to Motorsport.com regarding his aims for 2019,” Giovinazzi said:”There’s still no data on the capacity of their new auto, but beyond that in my own case it is going to be important to ensure a development race .
“I am lucky to have Kimi like a team mate, and it will be a terrific benchmark”
However, the 2016 GP2 runner up triumphed:”It is nice and translucent. It’s lucky for me personally to be his team mate.”
Landing the Ferrari simulator role in 20 17 was important for Giovinazzi, whose profession to that point was supported from Ricardo Gelael — the father of f 2 motorist Sean.
“At the beginning it’s a very agreeable experience, since you work with terrific professionals and with terrific drivers, in my case Vettel and Kimi,” explained Giovinazzi of his simulator work with Ferrari.
“Through the years it can become a routine task, but for my part I have always seen it as a chance. It had been the best way in which to convince [Ferrari] I deserve a chance.”
He suffered crashes that were big in qualifying and the race, which he describes as the worst period of his career.
“I knew very well that the chances to be in Formula inch were hardly any, also for the very first time that I believed I had overlooked the opportunity,” he explained.
“that I wasn’t happy with myself, that I might show much more. For 2 years I’ve tried to refund those who have continued by working to the best of my skill, to believe in me.
“I had been on the’seat’, becoming better and better, and I am glad today to realize that the job has paid off.
“But I am aware that the use of Alfa Romeo Running motorist is a point of coming but above all, kick off point.
