DETROIT — The Detroit Lions are just one of five teams that can be forced to appear on”Hard Knocks” in 2013, but the team’s brass is apparently doing everything it can to deflect the hit HBO series to a different team — namely Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders.
“I think Jon Gruden can be a superb choice for that series,” Lions coach Matt Patricia said. “I think that the Oakland Raiders and what they’ve got going on at this time would be fantastic viewing for everybody to see .”
Patricia, subsequently asked when appearing on the series would be just like a weeks-long dentist visits for root canals, briefly sighed before saying:”Yeah,” and that”I absolutely think I’d get a great deal of calls from my mom at nighttime if that series was “
Lions general manager Bob Quinn said in the event the franchise is playing with the hard-knocks team that now, some one in their own scouting department actually watches and DVR’s the series to attempt and learn exactly what they can about personnel and scheme. Quinn said he knows other NFL teams take action, such as the superbowl champion New England Patriots.
“Thus , it’s real. Is it will be a matter of a triumph and loss, I’m unsure,” Quinn said. “But we take the stuff we do supporting our doors pretty privately and pretty firmly so that’s something that is definitely a factor.”
Quinn after said,”Nobody wants to do it. Except Oakland.”
