Rafael Benitez questioned the battle on goalkeeper Martin Dubravka that led salvaging a 1 1 draw against Newcastle.

But replays indicate in doing this, he may have impeded Dubravka defender Willy Boly led past the Slovak at the 94th minute.

“I did not enjoy the battle at the conclusion,” said Magpies boss Benitez.

“You’ve got to guard the keeper. We have now been here for decades and it is still quite tricky to describe that.”

When asked if Newcastle must experienced a free-kick after Boly’s challenge, the Spaniard included:”In England they don’t understand the principles which means that you can state whatever you want to say.”

Benitez was likewise riled if his side were defeated 21 by Wolves in December, losing to another stoppage-time objective.

At the time he chose a VAR signal after his defender DeAndre Yedlin was shown for pulling Diogo Jota red, and he also believed Boly should have been disregarded after grabbing Ayoze Perez at the penalty area.

On Monday he said that debutant and record signing Miguel Almiron was in the build-up to Wolves’ equaliser.

“Perhaps it’s a foul before on Almiron tooyou can say lots of things however it will not change what happened, such as from the first match,” said Benitez, whose side had been on track for three precious points in their struggle against relegation after Isaac Hayden’s second-half strike.

“This is a terrible way to concede. We have an additional purpose . however, it’s a shame because we could have had three.”
