Thomas Hitzlsperger has been named as the sporting director at Bundesliga strugglers Stuttgart.

3 6, the former Aston Villa and Germany midfielder, made 172 appearances for Stuttgart – winning the 2007 Bundesliga title using them.

He replaces Michael Reschke, that was sacked with the club sitting in the relegation place.

Hitzlsperger, that played Chesterfield, West Ham and Everton, has been employed as a pundit on television that is German.

“I certainly will do my upmost to concentrate our strengths in order that we stay up and in the exact identical time establish a path for a successful future,” explained Hitzlsperger, that will be working closely together with head trainer Markus Weinzierl.
