The ByKolles Racing team has confirmed it is going to switch to Gibson Technology engines for the rest of this 2018/19 World Endurance Championship’ Season’ from Nissan.
The LMP1 team has been forced to pull from this upcoming Sebring 1, 000 Miles round and those claims would be further supported by this news.
There’s not time for ByKolles to produce Sebring and the team is targeting a yield for its 6 Hours in May and the Le Mans.
“Everybody saw the challenging time we suffered in recent race evenings and it’s no time for you to move into a new chapter,” commented team chief Manfredi Ravetto.
“We are extremely confident that a Gibson-powered ByKolles Enso will benefit us with the outcome our persistent work and investment deserve. It’SA huge challenge to become ready for Spa however our small and dedicated team at Greding loves those challenges even as we’ve demonstrated before in F1 and WEC.”
John Manchester,” Gibson Technology’s operations manager, added:”Everybody at Gibson Technology is delighted our engines are chosen by just one more top-flight team.
“We are all getting excited about being part of this new phase in ByKolles Racing history, which will enable us to build up our engine technology to compete against some of the top sports car and engine manufacturers on earth sportscar racing.”
ByKolles has used Nissan engines since 20 17, but will switch from the 3L V6 turbocharged units to Gibson’s 4.5L v 8 naturally-aspirated power plants.
