The greatest questions of this off season have been where would Manny Machado along with Bryce Harper sign for 2019 and outside. WellSpring Training has now begun for all 30 teams and both superstars stay unsigned, as players get set to report a few weeks leaving lots of Hot Stove intrigue.

Which of the 2 will sign? And what can it mean to one other — not to mention a few other highprofile unsigned free agents Dallas Keuchel along with Craig Kimbrel — if the initial domino falls?

Following is a glance at what a Harper or Machado registering would imply for the rest of the top agents that are available free. We are going to begin with some Harper scenarios, then move to Machado. We will not hit on every possible scenario, but we’ve attempted to deal with the most likely chances.

IF HARPER SIGNS WITH THE PHILLIES…
Machado: Even the White Sox would immediately become heavy favorites for Machado inside this scenario, although Yankees might produce a late move for the infielder, wanting to convince Machado that playing with a rival would make a shorter-term bargain worth his while. Even the Phillies would likely be out from this combination, unless ownership’s definition of”dumb” money was even crazier than some of us believed.

Keuchel: The Phillies have been considered a plausible landing spot for the lefthander, but Philadelphia’s search for Harper and Machado has abandoned the prior American League Cy Young Award winner playing with a waiting game. The Phillies could still make a play with signing Harper, though that seems unlikely. Even the Braves could still use a starter, also the Phillies would have bolstered their lineup with the help of Harper, perhaps Atlanta counters with a Keuchel signing. An escape to the Astros would remain in playwith.

Kimbrel: Like Keuchel, many have viewed Philly like a Possible fit for Kimbrel, even after the Phillies’ registering of David Robertson. A Harper signing would make that less likely, which makes the Red Sox and Braves the favorites to sign the all star closer on a deal with opt-outs that could allow Kimbrel to reunite in a couple of years to the market.

IF HARPER SIGNS WITH THE NATIONALS…
Machado: Having missed out on Harper, the Phillies can get the full-court press Machado, who has been the team’s preferred choice between the two all cold temperatures, according to sources. While both players were on the market, the fallback plan was that one other could be signed by the Phillies if they overlook on the initial. Washington would become an overwhelming favorite in the NL East inspite of the movements the Phillies have made this off season In case Harper yields to the Nationals. Even the White Sox, who have been accountable for both players for much of winter months, could make a larger push.

Keuchel: Obviously, Philadelphia may also pivot in still yet another way, fixing their pitching team rather than building a larger push for Machado. Adding Keuchel into Aaron Nola along with Jake Arrieta would require some pressure off the youngsters at the back end of the rotation, as the Phillies would also have sufficient money to bring still yet another noteworthy reliever. Which brings us hellip;

If Harper stays in Washington, building a reunion with Kimbrel an alternative, too the Braves might also feel some tension.

IF HARPER SIGNS WITH THE GIANTS…
Machado: This might be the dream situation for Machado, who might ignite a bidding war between the Phillies, White Sox and Padres. Machado are in the same position if Harper goes to Washington, though a big move by the Giants could push San Diego general manager A.J. Preller to make a major splash.

Keuchel/Kimbrel: A Harper-to-San Francisco movement would leave Keuchel and Kimbrel in a similar position since he’d maintain if Harper was to go back to Washington. Even the Phillies’ interest in the pitchers would likely depend upon Machado and how competitive they chose to get in their search for the infielder.

IF MACHADO SIGNS WITH THE PHILLIES…
Harper: Philadelphia would be out from this Harper combination, which may ease the pressure on the Nationals to go above and beyond to create back the face of their franchise at any price tag. The White Sox would get to be the favorites to sign Harper, although Padres could also make a push. However, what if Harper decides he wishes to play more of a”winnow” club? Perhaps the prior NL MVP might look at a bargain, giving the chance to teams like Dodgers, Cubs and the Yankees.

Keuchel: Much like the Harper-to-Philly scenario, this would be bad news for Keuchel. Even the lefthander would lose his largest potential lien although Braves could jump in with an offer since the Phillies would be out. Though Keuchel would have to simply just accept a deal to come back to Houston the Astros would remain on the periphery. The good news in that scenario? When he returned with received one this winter from the 25, Howevern’t be subject to a qualifying offer.

Kimbrel: As outlined earlier in the day, the Red Sox and Braves would remain Kimbrel’s most likely destinations if the Phillies sign either Machado or Harper.

IF MACHADO SIGNS WITH THE WHITE SOX…
Harper: The Phillies, with missed from Machado, would probably go all-in to signal Harper. Philly’s offer could be the greatest on the market for Harper, if representative Scott Boras did not give the Nationals one chance to match or transcend 35, but it would be surprising. Might the prospect of Harper linking an NL East rival be adequate to have the Nationals to produce another fiscal commitment? With third-baseman Anthony Rendon slated to become a free agent at the end of 2019, your choice could come down to which of the 2 players they like to ink long-term.

Keuchel/Kimbrel: Like nearly any other situation, the Phillies’ response are the key. Philadelphia might create a run at Keuchel or Kimbrel (and Marwin Gonzalez, for that matter) if they decided not to match Harper’s price, though given how competitive the Phillies have been, Harper would still end up being their top option. Even the Braves could be an alternative for pitcher, as the Astros (Keuchel) and Red Sox (Kimbrel) could still bring their former players, even likely on shorter-term deals.

Though Washington’s involvement would hinge on how competitive the Phillies got in their search for Harper the Nationals would also be within the mix.

Keuchel/Kimbrel: the very best news for either of those flashlights are Machado or Harper registering with the White Sox and one other landing with someone apart from Philly. If the Phillies overlook on both stars, it could ignite a chain reaction which could land Kimbrel or Keuchel — or both — in Philly.
