From Mike Smith: Undefeated former WBC lightweight champion Omar Figueroa Jr. (28-0-1, 19 KOs) kept his perfect record in tact with a grueling 10 round unanimous decision win more than 2 time world title challenger John Molina Jr. (30-8, 24 KOs) on Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions on FOX from the Microsoft Theater, at Los Angeles, California.
The dozens were 97-93 and 99-91, 98-92. The fight was a lot closer than the score turned in by the three judges. Boxing News 24 had Figuera edging the fight by 2 points in 96-94.
Other Boxing results on the card, undefeated lanky junior middleweight Sebastian Fundora (12-0, 8 KOs) stayed unbeaten with a 3rd round knockout win over Donnie Marshall (10-1, 6 KOs). Fundora nailed Marshall with a uppercut that hurt him in the second round of the short match. A round later, Fundora continued to property drives. Fundora knocked Marshall down with a right hand to the pinnacle. After Marshall got in again to his toes, Fundora unloaded him on using some enormous shots before the Warriors stepped in and halted the fight. The time of the stoppage was 1:08 of round 3. In general, punching power was shown by Fundora at winning the fight tonight. The issue is if Fundora can deal with guys that could hit back him with lots of power such as Jaime Munguia, Jermell Charlo along with Jarrett Hurd.
Super featherweight Neri Romero (12-0, 7 KOs) defeated journeyman Thomas Smith (5-7-1, 3 KOs) by a six round unanimous choice. The dozens were 58-55, 58-55 along with 58-55. Smith knocked down romero at the 1st round.
