BOCA RATON, Fla. — An rule has been drafted that will force a skater to go to the bench if he loses his helmet.

On the ice, a new player may stay under the rules .

The managers said at their meetings that a skater with out a helmet would be appraised a two-minute penalty if he neglects to immediately leave the ice.

The suggestion has to go to the board of governors for approval and the /PA contest committee.

The International Ice Hockey Federation has the same rule. The American Hockey League permits a player hockey if he could place his helmet back on, to stick to the ice.

The managers prefer making helmets compulsory but that is part of this rule change.
