The 49ers chosen to take on $7.2 million in dead money rather than carry Garcon’s cap amount of 8.275 million. While looking in 16 games in just 2 seasons with the Niners, Garcon had 64 catches for 786 yards with one touchdown.
Garcon, 32, was the very first target for manager John Lynch and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan once they took over in 20 17, signing a five-year deal that is lucrative. Garcon was expected to offer leadership and production but he was limited by injuries to more of this latter compared to the previous.
Garcon played in just eight games on injured reserve as a result of knee and neck injuries before landing. After attempting to play through the accident, he had arthroscopic knee surgery on his knee in December.
Garcon began his career as a sixth-round choice of the Indianapolis Colts out of Division III Mount Union in 2008, also he’s 628 career receptions for 7,854 yards and 38 touchdowns.
