ST. PAUL, Minn. — A play by play announcer was pulled from the broadcast of this natives’ State Hockey Championship in Minnesota after he encouraged a single particular team’s fans to”move from the lynching ropes.”

Fox Sports North announcer Doug McLeod produced the remark on KSTC-TV through a Quarter Finals game Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Anger was voiced by some hockey fans about interpersonal media.

McLeod was pulled off the atmosphere. The studio host Tom Hauser, for the championship , later agreeing to viewers on behalf of Channel 4-5.

Officials with the Minnesota State High School League say that they had been unaware of the situation. Station management did not immediately return a telephone for comment. A note left at a number was not returned.

The soccer championships run through Saturday.
