Derrick LeWIS looking to get from the look to get a return visit and is coming off of a loss to current champion Daniel Cormier. A victory over Junior dos Santos at Wichita will be a large move in the right direction.
Dos Santos, plus a former UFC heavyweight champion, spent a time fighting a UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation after failing to recover the belt from Stipe Miocic at 20 17. He was discovered to be innocent of ingesting a substance that was illegal. Dos Santos was one of Brazilian fighters found to have ingested a supplement that was tainted by including banned ingredients maybe not divulged on the label.
Much like LeWIS, dos Santos would be expecting to get another crack. He already has back to back successes over Blagoy Ivanov and Tai Tuivasa to his credit since his return into the Octagon. Adding a victory over LeWIS would border him closer into the belt.
The major event was lighted when dos Santos stepped on the scale 246.5 lbs, while LeWIS pushed the limit of the research division by weighing 265.5 lbs. Weight was also made by all the other fighters on the card reduction.
