AVONDALE, Ariz. — Ryan Blaney turned into the fastest lap in practice and never slowed up into qualifying, setting his No. 1 2 Ford to the pole Friday for the weekend’s race in ISM Raceway near Phoenix.
Blaney turned into a lap of 141.287 mph to keep Penske Racing’s early-season victory moving.
The largest action in qualifying came after the introduction round, when Daniel Suarez and Michael McDowell got into a battle. Suarez was upset that McDowell had gotten ruining both of these qualifying efforts, also it required a few crew members to pull them.
