Smith Jr. clearly knows what he’s in store for him in taking on Bivol. Smith Jr. can be just a fighter who has won with his ability, however he’s shown he is able to beat the much better fighters. Sullivan Barrera in 2017 beat him, and that’S-A guy that Bivol defeated last year by a knock out at the twelfth round.
Hooker weighed in a half pound over the limit at 140.5 lbs within his first weigh in effort on the scales. Hooker returned later and weighed in at 140.25 lbs on the 2nd effort. After returning into his room to boil down some more, Hooker finally got down to 140 pound limit. By crying out, he celebrated, and him loathed. Had Hooker shed weight, he would have missed his WBO title. The fight could have taken place, but the WBO 140 lb title could have just been available to LesPierre. For his part, the little known LesPierre weighed in at 138.75.
Unless Hooker is weakened from having taken the weight off he should have no problems beating the LesPierre, who has faced no the body which can be thought of as a fighter throughout his seven year pro career. The question a lot of Boxing fans have been asking is why did Matchroom dig up LesPierre for Hooker to defend his name against rather than the usual good competition? There are better fighters in the World Boxing Organization’s top 1-5 which Matchroom could have selected for Hooker to shield against. It offers the belief the Hooker is tough. For Hooker to develop into an attraction, he’will need to be compared against resistance in relation to this. The casual fans won’t have heard of LesPierre, and neither will the hardcore fans.
Lightheavyweight competition Callum Johnson weighed in at 173 lbs due to his 10 round fight against Sean Monaghan. Seanie weighed in at 174 lbs. Johnson can be just a big puncher, who is coming off of a fourth round knockout loss to IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev. It turned out to be a competitive fight in which Beterbiev fell. Johnson was discontinued once Beterbiev figured him out at the fourth round. Monaghan, 3-7, is currently coming off of a 10 round decision loss that is onesided to Sullivan Barrera in his last fight.
While his rival journeyman Joey Dawejko weighed 250 lbs Heavy-weight Sergey Kuzmin weighed in at 248 lbs.
