Cousins was a common target of fan and media criticism in recent weeks, while the Warriors came into Friday’s showdown in Oracle Arena with lost five of the past eight matches. But he played with with possibly the very finest game of the brief Warriors tenure against Denver, posting 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 blocks and 3 steals in 28 minutes.

“Everyone would like to talk — about DeMarcus’ defense,”” D Raymond Green said,”I toldy’all previous game, we haven’t played energy — or at clinic. Everyone wanna [state ],’It’s a problem when DeMarcus is out there.’ Yet, every one else chose up the energy, out of the blue nobody is talking about DeMarcus’ problems defensively. It’s really a great matchup for him personally. That is bulls– to me”

He said he believed Cousins had obtained too private criticism for the Warriors’ woes.

“I feel it pissed him off,” Green explained. “He’s a rival. And saying that, like I said before, our whole team played with defense. our whole team defense was horrible the previous two weeks, although Everybody wants to only out one guy. And so everybody chose that up to night , and he shined on this end too, but everyone picked this up.”

Cousins, who has been truthful with the press and professional during his tenure dropped to deal with reporters.

“therefore suddenly it’s not only trying to pick one guy from the bundle and say’Oh, this is actually the reason they’re struggling’ We were why we’re struggling, and now that we picked up it we saw some matters he’s capable of tonight,” Green explained. “Which I Have seen throughout our struggles. He gets his hands. He includes some blocks. He’s been really very good at times, but because the team struggled everybody wants to pick out the one guy.

“Obviously he is the guy which hasn’t been here. So it’s easy to say,’The Warriors have been good defensively Demarcus will there be, so let us pick on him’ The fact of the matter isthat we have been midst of the bunch the whole year. So it had been great for everybody to pick this through to that side of the chunk after which for him to own the defensive performance he had.”

Cousins, who made his return to the lineup on Jan. 18 after missing almost a year due to a left Achilles’ accident, was repeatedly targeted on defense by opposing teams looking for an edge against the Warriors. Cousins hung tough throughout Friday’s game, limiting Nuggets celebrity Nikola Jokic into just five field goals in the game.

“It turned out to be a wonderful matchup for him tonight,” Warriors sharp shooter Klay Thompson explained. “I understand he had been moved going up against [Nikola] Jokic, who’s at the MVP conversation. S O DeMarcus was upward with this match, and we’re going to require that out of him down the stretch. He’s such a burden on each side of the globe, particularly for just how big he is defensively, he’s got such incredible hands. You saw it all tonight. Six shots, three steals — that is fantastic like that to achieve that, for a big fella. And he only weighs on you, too, therefore there isn’t any easy buckets when you are going against him, because he is so physically dominant”

Cousins’ 3 pointer with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter gave the Warriors a boost after knocking the shot, and also a moment once the proud man lifted both arms. Cousins is only 13-for-53 from beyond the arc this season.

“I presumed DeMarcus was amazing,” Warriors head coach explained. “Six blocks, three steals. He had been all over the place. And he then finally got that 3 put his hands and then to return. He’s been amazing; his approach, his attitude. He’s a joy to coach, he is enthusiastic, he is some times on the market just crying and crying on the planet. And I really like training him. He’s really been good. And the past couple days only trying to energize other guys. He’s still finding his way with all of us and also the way we playwith, but he is doing a excellent job”

Now the Warriors need to hope Cousins will maintain the momentum he created for himself as well as his team during the previous month of their regular season and beyond. Warriors star Kevin Durant said he does not believe the criticism Cousins endured had an impact on the way he played against the Nuggets.

“I really actually don’t believe you guys really know what defense means,” Durant said. “You have a look at the numbers and the stats, and also the blocks, and it is easy for you to say,’Oh, DeMarcus had a great game’ He didn’t play well, then that is what you’ll write if you are told by some body. However, I really actually don’t believe anybody in our locker room is blaming whatever on DeMarcus. All of us have our miscommunications outthere, miscues outthere, anything you need to call it, but that I don’t believe you guys had anything to do with tonight”
