Unseeded Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova stunned world number 2 Simona Halep to reach on at the quarter finals in Indian Wells.
Vondrousova has recently beaten 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko and last year’s finalist Daria Kasatkina during her run at California.
“I had been running a lot – I felt like I had been dying for a moment,” Vondrousova joked within an on-court interview.
“I’m so delighted to be through so happy with my drama .”
She’ll play Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina or Australian Ashleigh Barty at the past eight.
It’s the first time Vondrousova has beaten a top five player.
She served for the match at 5-1 in the third set but was broken into 1-5, until a scrappy match from Halep assured her success.
French Open champion Halep, who’s still without a permanent trainer, has not won a WTA title since the Canadian Open at August.
Canada’s Bianca Andreescu, 18, continued her remarkable season with a 7-5 6-2 win over China’s Wang Qiang.
Andreescu, who overcome Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams on her way into the Auckland Open final in January, has won 23 and lost only three games that year.
She’ll play with Spain’s Garbine Muguruza second, following the former world number one be at Kiki Bertens 57 6-1 6-4.
