The sanfrancisco 49ers are signing former la Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett to some one-year, $3.6 million deal, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Verrett suffered an Achilles tendon tear throughout a conditioning test a day before the beginning of Chargers’ training camp last 12 months, forcing the TCU product to miss out the full 2018 season.

Selected No. 25 complete in the 2014 draft, the 27-year-old Verrett has overlooked 55 of some potential 80 matches in five seasons with the Chargers.

However, Verrett can be a elite cornerback in the league when healthy; he also made an invitation to the Pro Bowl following the 2015 season.

ESPN’s Eric D. Williams contributed to the record.
