The NFL said that Hunt’s suspension stems from a February 2018 incident in which he shoved and kicked off a woman during an early-morning altercation outside his downtown Cleveland house, along with an incident in June 2018 that included a physical altercation with different men at put in bay, Ohio.

Release of the video from the February incident, and also the fact that Hunt had lied about this, prompted the Kansas City Chiefs release a the conducting back Nov. 30. The NFL researched a third incident in Kansas City, however, said there would not be any discipline out of that.

Hunt was not charged in any one of these incidents.

Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of the $645,000 base wages with his eight-game suspension. Upon return he’ll have a opportunity to earn $200,000 at per-game roll bonuses. He will then be a restricted free agent next off season for the Browns.

I know that my behavior hurt plenty of people, and I again apologize to them,” Hunt said in a statement released by the team. “I respect the league’s decision on discipline, and I love the time I spent with Commissioner Goodell past week. I’m grateful for my period with the Browns within the previous month and also thankful to all individuals in the company that have welcomed me. In addition, I love all of the support I received from my own marriage through this procedure. My commitment to getting the trust of the team, my team mates, the company which community during my activities would last, and I know there’s lots of work ahead of me I’m ready to fully go back to playing the game I love.”

Hunt may participate in the team’s OTAs, minicamps and preseason games. His suspension will not take effect until Aug. 31, the time of final roster discounts before the season opener. The Browns expect him to be present for the beginning of offseason workouts April inch.

Browns general director John Dorsey drafted Look for the Chiefs at 2017, when Dorsey had been the team’s GM.

“I want everybody to know we have done extensive research in regards to this situation, this particular player,” Dorsey told reporters last month in explaining why the team declared Hunt. “He knows and takes full responsibility for the egregious act he perpetrated. He is extremely remorseful for his actions”

Hunt directed the NFL in rushing as a beginner in 20 17 with 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns in helping Kansas City qualify for the playoffs. He had 53 receptions for 455 yards and three touchdowns.
