Lewis Hamilton pipped Mercedes Team Mate Valtteri Bottas to Stick Position in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Hamilton was supporting the Finn going into the final runs in qualifying but edged ahead by 0.112 seconds to shoot his sixth consecutive pole at Albert Park.

Hamilton has been a enormous 0.704secs quicker than Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in third, ahead of fresh team mate Charles Leclerc.

British rookie Lando Norris took a great appeared on his debut for McLaren.

Along with George Russell, one other British rookie, was 19th, well ahead of his Williams team mate Robert Kubica.
