The Northern Irishman’s WRC future hung in the balance last year after he had been dropped Mid Season by Citroën Racing.
Meeke took sixth place and a Wolf Power Stage triumph at an incident-filled introduction at Rallye montecarlo and followed closely with another sixth place in Sweden.
He headed last week’s third round in Mexico prior to a pruning dropped him . A storming second-fastest run via the Power Phase [see the video below] made him four more bonus points.
Meeke told WRC.com the start to his campaign was meeting his expectations.
We could have obtained more things, but with three endings and Toyota leading the manufacturers’ championship, so it’s most certainly not just a poor start to this season,” he explained.
Meeke was also satisfied with the transition out of Citroën’s C3 into the Yaris.
“I am quite comfortable in the vehicle. Even though I’ve just had two or even 2 fastest times, you’ve got to become comfortable to achieve this,” he clarified.
