Michael Bisping will be inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame this summer, it was announced Saturday during the UFC London card. Bisping became the very first British UFC champion if he won the middleweight title in 20-16. The England native has 20 livelihood UFC wins, tied to the second most in history.
The UFC Hall of Fame service will happen July 5 in Las Vegas at a venue to be called. It’s going to broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass. Bisping will be inducted in the Modern Circuit, combining the likes of Ronda Rousey, Urijah Faber, B.J. Penn and Forrest Griffin. The “modern-era ” interrupts fighters who turned expert or after Nov. 17, 2000, are a minimum of 3-5 years old or have already been retired for a year or even longer.
Bisping, 40, retired officially in December 2018 because of an eye injury after toying with the notion of finding its way back to get a farewell bout, even within his home country. He ended up dropping in his final two livelihood bouts, the former a third-round entry loss to Georges st pierre at UFC 2 17 in November 2017 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Bisping dropped the UFC middleweight name in that bout.
Prior to that defeat, Bisping proceeded on a few of their most memorable runs in UFC history. That victory put Bisping in lineup to get an improbable title taken two weeks notice as a late fill-in against Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 in June 20-16.
In that major event struggle at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., Bisping shockingly knocked out Rockhold from the first round to eventually become UFC middleweight champion. For a long time, Bisping was believed among the greatest fighters to never secure a UFC name and that wouldn’t more be the situation.
Bisping, who finished his career having a 31-9 livelihood album, defended that name successfully once, a unanimous decision win over Dan Henderson at UFC 204 close Bisping’s hometown in Manchester, England. Bisping owns victories over the likes of Henderson, Silva, Rockhold, Cung Le, Brian Stann and Chris Leben within 11 years with the UFC. He won The Ultimate Fighter 3 in 2006 and is just one of eight TUF champions to win an undisputed UFC title. Bisping could be the sole TUF winner to successfully defend a UFC name.
“It’s hard to really have the amount of talent required to compete in UFC for any period of time, but Michael Bisping managed to have 11-year livelihood where he became a world champion and won The Ultimate Fighter, few people may say ,” UFC president Dana White said in an statement. “He also came back and educated The Ultimate Fighter and it is now among the best analysts in our broadcast team. Michael has been a huge part of not only building our new, but also the game of mixed martial arts. He absolutely deserves to be in the UFC Hall of Fame. Congratulations. ”
Inside his livelihood, Bisping also won the Cage Warriors and Cage Rage light heavyweight names. He started like a specialist in 2004.
Among Bisping’s livelihood accolades, he’s got the most wins in UFC middleweight history (16), is tied to the third greatest fights in UFC history (29), gets got the most crucial strikes in UFC middleweight history (1,384), gets got the second maximum absolute strikes in UFC history (1,567) and contains headlined UFC events in a record seven unique countries.
