Asked by Motorsport.com how reassuring that race-long performance was, Verstappen said:”Generally speaking I’m just extremely happy.
“I could at least take a look at it in terms of high speed. It’s excellent advancement, there’s a great deal of positive things coming as good.
It was a good result now but we still have to work really hard to improve”
Verstappen finished 22.5s behind Bottas after running off-track when chasing Hamilton.
Verstappen finished further from the race winner compared to Ricciardo did with Renault power in 2018, but insisted that it was”a very good step forward in comparison to annually” after beating the Ferraris by a lot more than half of a minute.
“If I just compared top rates contrary to both of the other teams,” explained Verstappen. “I’m very pleased with that.
“Also, I think generally the engine was performing nicely with no issues. I suppose time will tell when we can fight for top place”
Verstappen said RedBull had to turn around its fortunes after an unfinished Friday practice.
“Attempting to challenge second has been a very favorable feeling, particularly after my Friday,” he explained.
“We couldn’t pull it off in general I’m happy to be around the podium. We managed to turn it around in a very positive way after Friday.
“And for Honda to own their very first podium from the v 6 age, I feel it’s a excellent beginning. So, a huge congrats to them”
