Although he probably wasn’t even joyful at the onset of the race, the five-time Whelen Modified Tour champion was all cried at the close of the race picking up his first series triumph at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Saturday.

Coby qualified to the pole but was forced to begin at the rear of the field for an unapproved tire change before the start of the race.

Coby worked his way through traffic with his speedy car and pit strategy.

Jon McKennedy took the best position at the onset of the race and in the end led 64 laps in the race Myrtle Beach Speedway is known for abrasive asphalt and his tires didn’t maintain too well.

This opened the door for Coby to create his bill after having a pit stop for tires throughout upkeep on Lap 1-10.

Coby used the brand new tires to move up to the major three until he eventually passed Kyle Ebersole on Lap 122 and went on for the triumph.

“it is an interesting one,” Coby said. “Finally , I had the best car I have ever had here. We had to go work, and also we all did. The book will say we won the pole, started and finished first, but the reality is, we started 32nd and finished . We passed a lot of cars.

Although he didn’t even get the triumph, McKennedy is pleased about his campaign.

“We put two tires on and the No. 2 car put three in, but we all had a excellent car,” McKennedy said. “We asked the right-front scooter to go 150 laps, which is tough. They knew we were all still here. It had been a excellent effort by everybody else.

Jimmy Blewett was third, followed closely by Patrick Emerling and Chris Pasteryak to complete the top . Finishing sixth through 10th have been Anthony Nocella Accompanied closely by Burt Myers, Andy Seuss, Eric Goodale and Frank Fleming.

Defending series champion Justin Bonsignore finished 12th in case comprised a 32-car field. The show will remain in the South using a Trip to South Speedway on Saturday, March 30.
