HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are minding a one-piece, $3 million deal with all quarterback A J McCarron, a source confirmed to ’s Adam Schefter.

McCarron will be the Texans’ backup quarterback behind Deshaun Watson. The arrangement was reported by Network.

McCarron will be an upgrade at quarterback for the Texans supporting Watson, who had been backed up with Brandon Weeden along with Joe Webb III in 2018 and Tom Savage within his rookie season in 20 17. Weeden and Webb are free agents, also Weeden is not predicted to re-sign in Houston.

McCarron, an former Alabama standout, has played 12 matches, including seven to its Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 when he took over for an injured Andy Dalton. In his livelihood, McCarron has completed 64 percent of his passes for 928 yards with six touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
