Three statistical aspects tell us a terrific deal about the overall potency of a team: Corsi for percent, goals and scoring opportunities. If we take a look at the differentials of possible opponents, we will discover the closest matchups by adding up the percent difference between each team’s even-strength Corsi for percent, aims for percentage and scoring chance commission (all stats as of March 20, and via Organic Stat Trick).

As an example, if Team A has a 52.03 Corsi for percent and Team B includes 51.00, the differential will be 1.03, advantage Team A. The lower the total number, the closer the matchup.
