Declan Rice has apologised after a social networking article arose in that he made a clear reference to the IRA.

The England and West Ham midfielder, 20, had been a Ireland youth player in 2015 if he wrote’#UPTHERA’ around Insta-gram.

“I recognized my endeavor to demonstrate support for my team mates at the time could be blatantly interpreted,” he said.

“While my words weren’t meant to be a political opinion and do not represent that I’m, I really apologise for any offence caused.”

Rice won three mature Republic of Ireland caps, allin friendlies, with played for his grand parents’ country since under-16 level.

He transferred his allegiance to England last month.
