The Colts will give the four-time Guru Bowler per month, $24 million contract, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Even the Chiefs last week published Houston, making him a free agent, afterwards no team has been prepared to work a transaction and pick up the $15.25 million base wages he had been since this year.

“Needless to say I would have enjoyed to play my whole career in 1 place, however that’s perhaps not here or there,” Houston explained. “That’s done and over with. I’m here now. I’m eager to be a Colt and now I will make the best of this opportunity.”

A source told Schefter that the Colts inquired about trading for prior Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford but in the end decided to continue to draft-pick compensation and turned their focus to Houston.

Houston, who turned 30 in January, joined the Chiefs because of third-round draft selection (70th overall) by Georgia at 2011. He quickly showed his pass-rush ability by getting three sacks in a match against the Bears as a beginner. He’d 22 sacks at 2014, overlooking the NFL album by a halfsack.

Houston hasn’t come close to that standard as. His very best sofa total in the previous four seasons will be 9.5 at 2017. Houston has 78.5 career sacks, fourth to the Chiefs’ alltime list.

The Colts landed their most useful pass-rush hazard since Robert Mathis’d 19.5 sacks at 2013 at Houston. He’ll help a defense that finished tied for 19th the NFL in sacks last season with 38 while perhaps not having a legitimate pass rusher.

“I feel many people don’t think that. Therefore it’s much more of what I’m going to demonstrate the world and myself because I understand what I’m capable of.”

Houston was more than just a pass-rusher for the Chiefs. He had been an excellent all-around player who defended the run well. He had been a first-team all pro selection in 2014. And he’s got a brand new team.

“It’s been another procedure,” Houston explained. “One thing I was not use to. I only wanted to make sure I took my time and also make sure I moved to a team I felt just as though was the perfect fit for me, that I thought was the perfect fit and enjoyed being around. This is a good match for me and my loved ones.”
