Alex McLeish refused to discuss his future after leading Scotland to a of the state’s most ignominious defeats in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier in Kazakhstan.
The Scots were two down in 10 minutes, also conceded again after the break to provide the Kazakhs just a second triumph in 2-1 qualifiers.
They currently face San Marino on Sunday.
“I will only carry on to do my own job also won’t get drawn to that question,” said McLeish.
Speaking to Sky Sports from the immediate aftermath of the abject defeat, the manager had conceded the effect”possibly puts more tension on me”.
Scotland were more all guilty of abject defending at each of 3 goals and also offered little threat moving forward against the united states ranked 117 from the entire universe.
McLeish has been forced to field a makeshift backline after several call-offs and also the team’s inexperience was cruelly exposed.
“It turned out to be a poor night for us defensively,” said the Scotland boss. “We reacted to the 2 first objectives. They could have been averted with better positioning.
“There’s a lot of inexperience from the group. We’ve introduced a couple new titles during the last year or so also it can take time, but I know we don’t have time.
“It is never ended till it has ended. We have players to come back.”
‘Just how long can this last?’ – evaluation
Former Scotland midfielder Michael Stewart on BBC Radio Scotland
It’s really a really poor start to the campaign onto the trunk of a few poor performances from the Nations League. There will be a lot of pressure on the boss following this. The players looked completely lost. It didn’t look as though there was a clear concept of exactly what they were attempting todo. It did not appear to be we had a game plan or the players didn’t know what the overall game plan was.
I’d be surprised if the manager is maybe not in charge for the San Marino game. We’re only a few days off. But how long can this last? I really do not know. But if there is still yet another performance such as this against San Marino I’d suppose might be it.
