Abiteboul emphasized that the best of the remainder contest behind the recognized top few teams is so close that teams might need to get everything right in order to be on top.
“It had been extremely tight, and it’s really going to be extremely tight all season,” Abiteboul told Motorsport.com after the Australian GP. “So I think it’s going to be more fascinating.
“It is rather tricky to have it easy to have it wrong concerning tyre direction, tyre choice, setups.
“We were also not perfect in that respect [in Melbourne], therefore it’s also another area where we need to learn and progress.”
“The cars are excessively peaky, super simple to get in and out of the window, taking a look at what we’ve done, and several other teams did.
“Ferrari had that problem from the race, RedBull had that problem . I do believe it’s super simple to have it right or wrong to get several reasons which are not fundamentally inside our hands.
“it’ll be interesting to learn what happened to everybody else, because maybe we can learn from the issue of everyone.
“That can make the summer season interesting, but so far as we are concerned we just need a better performance.
“We have a car that is able to do better, but we will need to expel all of the smaller issues we uncovered this weekend.”
