From Jim Dower: Former heavyweight world title challenger Kubrat Pulev (26-1, 13 KOs) will be fighting tonight against Bogdan Dinu (18-1, 14 KOs) in an essential competition for the 37-year-old Bulgarian fighter on ESPN/ESPN Deportes in 10pm ET in The Hanger in Costa Mesta, California. The Pulev-Dinu struggle is scheduled for 10 rounds.

Top Rank Boxing recently declared the highly decorated former amateur celebrity Pulev, 6’4 1/2″, and so they will have hopes of getting him an instant name taken against WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua when they will have him shoot yet another struggle from the fall. Until Pulev comes with a struggle tonight against both 6’5″ Romanian Dinu, and a game down the road this past year. Many boxing buffs believe Top Rank just signed Pulev so that they are able to take advantage of him being the WBO mandatory to Joshua, however ’therefore not the situation, according to Top Rank boss Bob Arum. They signed Pulev to take part in some intriguing struggles, one which obviously is really just a struggle with Joshua. Still another struggle that Top Rank will more than likely have Pulev take part in a struggle with Tyson Fury at some point, however AFTER both face Joshua.

The option of Dinu for Pulev is peculiar one. Dinu was knocked out in the fourth round at his final struggle in November of last season by Jarrell Miller. It’d have been only just a little more interesting if Top Rank had put Pulev in with somebody with talent, but again, they wouldn’t wish to risk consuming him lose due to his WBO mandatory status. In case Pulev were to reduce, he’d miss on a title taken against Joshua, and that could be money that wouldn’t be getting to Leading Rank as well, an individual can argue. As such, in the place of Pulev fighting a live dog, he’therefore fighting somebody coming off of a knockout loss to Miller past November.

“That was not why we signed him that [mandatory fight] was just a bonus,” Arum believed to ESPN. “We’re going to make that struggle happen, however we signed him because we can show the public a good foreign fighter in a competitive heavyweight match. Just how well it’s received depends on how he plays, however he’s definitely not going to sit. We’ve spoke to Ivaylo and John about this — maybe a summer or early fall struggle after you to get him Joshua,” Arum said.

Pulev may have problems as soon as it comes to him or her fighting Joshua. Pulev lacks the punching ability to keep the stronger heavy weights fair. Five years back, Pulev challenged former IBF/WBA/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko, and was knocked down three days and stopped from the fifth round. Pulev left the error of trying to slug with Wladimir off the bat, and he paid for this by becoming dropped repeatedly by hooks. Pulev was a sucker for Wladimir’so left hook. He would come forward and have nailed by that shot . Chisora is really just a former world title challenger, however he’s over-the-hill at this point. Peter is a former WBC heavyweight champion, but he was utterly shot by enough full time Pulev fought him.

Pulev weighed at 249.8 pounds at the weigh-in last Friday because of his struggle fretting against Dinu, who weighed at 239.6 pounds. This is all about the normal weights for the 2 fighters.

Prediction

Even though Pulev isn’t a big puncher, he’s a facing a man that was simply blown away in four rounds by Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller past November. It turned out to be a total blow out. Pulev will get his way against Dinu, who isn’t a first class fighter. Pulev will probably stop Dinu by the sixth round by just by jabbing him.
