It seems that Henry Cejudo will get the following shot at the UFC bantamweight title.
Even the UFC’s bantamweight division has been in a state of flux as T.J. Dillashaw vacated his belt because of a failed USADA drug evaluation. With prior WSOF king Marlon Moraes apparently locked to a No. 1 rival place, the trio of both Cejudo, Pedro Munhoz, and Aljamain Sterling have campaigned heavily to get a chance to oppose Moraes to the vacant 135-pound strap.
And after having a win by top-ranked flyweight rival Jussier Formiga finished Deiveson Figueiredo in UFC Nashville, UFC president Dana White appears to have the next steps to the flyweight and bantamweight branches figured out.
“I now have a plan. “it looks like people ’re likely to do the Moraes-Cejudo fight. They want that fight really awful, sounds like a good fight to produce with the whole Dillashaw thing today. And then you certainly do (Formiga) versus (Joseph) Benavidez on precisely the same card. Anything goes wrong, certainly one of them is able to step up and take the fight, and the winner of the fight may be that the bonded No. 1 competitor to the next shooter. ”
Benavidez and Formiga have been the most odd men out at flyweight because the UFC chose to allow Dillashaw to go down in challenge and weight Cejudo in UFC Brooklyn.
Benavidez possesses a former win over Cejudo and will be 8-1 finished his last nine fights, together along with his sole loss over that extend coming in a split decision to Sergio Pettis. Formiga, likewise, has won four consecutive battles culminating in his UFC Nashville victory over Figueiredo.
Cejudo has been in the dialog in 135 lbs since spat out Dillashaw in just 32 minutes at UFC Brooklyn, while Moraes can be a great 4-0 since his ineffective Octagon debut. The previous three of those victories for Moraes — against Sterling,” Jimmie Rivera, and Raphael Assuncao — have come via first-round stoppage.
