By Allan Fox: Among those fights that Marcos Maidana is making a comeback for is really just a game against superstar Manny Pacquiao, according his conditioning trainer Alex Ariza, that says a struggle between those two stars are huge one. Ariza acknowledges that the former two division world champion Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) still must earn the struggle with Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) until he can access it.
Maidana, 35, hasn’t even fought five years since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2014. Maidana let his weight escape control during his retirement from boxing, and he was 200 pounds when he started preparing for his comeback monthly ago.
Maidana has lost 25 pounds , also Ariza is expecting he could down for him to struggle at a catch-weight of 152 or 153 pounds for his comeback fight in June. Maidana’so weight reaches 190, also then he’s ’s still carrying around too much weight for him to struggle, but he’s got lots of time still before his struggle in June.
“” I think this is a wonderful fight at the moment just because Manny is showing signs of beating himself and getting into it,” Ariza said to Fighthype about a struggle between Maidana and Pacquiao. “” I simply think that would be a wonderful fight. He’s got that mode that throws a great deal of punches. Manny gets back to his groove again. I believe every one want to see that one. You’t got the Philippines and Argentina. If you would like to realize a major struggle, this ’SA major struggle. That’s the struggle [Maidana] explained he wants. Yeah, the first time he called me when he arrived on the scene here, he wants to fight Pacquiao. But you’ve got to earn this struggle by stripping people outside,” Ariza explained.
Beating Lo Greco probably won’t even be enough for Maidana to find a struggle against Pacquiao. Afterall, Lo Greco was phased out in the first round by Amir Khan in his last struggle in April of last year. It’s not a crime for the comebacking Maidana to struggle an inactive guy coming off of a year lay off and a first round knock out to Khan, however it’s also not a struggle that will much for him in relation to drumming up enthusiasm from the boxing public in seeing a struggle between Maidana and Pacquiao. Maidana needs to gather a couple of victories in rapid way against decent amount opposition in front of a struggle between him and Pacquiao has a opportunity to come about. It’SA race for Maidana, however, because Pacquiao has quite a few high welterweights which are looking to fight himbeginning with IBF winner Errol Spence Jr.. In case Pacquiao struggles Spence, and endures from knockout loss, he might elect to retire rather than stick around long enough to struggle Maidana. It ’t even be the ending of the entire planet for Maidana if he doesn’t even receive the struggle against Pacquiao. He could constantly confront Adrien Broner in a rematch, and maybe someone like Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Spence or even Shawn Porter. All those are all good fights for maidana. The Broner struggle would bring in a great deal of interest for Maidana. He beat Broner six decades back in knocking him down in winning a 12 round decision in 2013. Ariza considers that Maidana “ruined” Broner with the punishment that he inflicted on him. Given how awful Broner had looked before he lost to Maidana, it’so suspicious that he destroyed him. It was just a case of Broner not being that good to begin with, and inducing the speed, power, reflexes or mobility to compete at the greatest levels of the welterweight division. Broner was at his best when he was fighting at super feather weight. He was dominating in this weight class. Broner never looked the same since moving to 140 and 147. Like lots of fighters, Broner was good once he had a big weight advantage over his opponents.
“You watched what Maidana did to [Adrien] Broner. You watched what Manny didn’t Broner. Maidana destroyed this guy. He destroyed him. I don’t even think Manny could possess enough to prevent him,” Ariza said about Pacquiao not needing enough offensive ability to knockout Maidana. Manny couldn’t even get Broner out from that time. He’s shot. He’s got to find someone to teach him to receive him beyond those reservations which he’d, Broner,” Ariza explained.
Maidana did a much better job of beating Broner than Pacquiao did. Needless to say, Maidana was in his late 20s when he battled Broner. Pacquiao fought him at 40-years-old. There various things in drama in both struggles. By now Pacquiao fought Broner, Adrien had been fighting at welterweight quite a while. Maidana fought Broner when heor she rsquo;d just been in the branch to get a short period of time. Pacquiao fought somewhat better model of Broner than Maidana did.
Look what happened? He has captured. So you have to be careful with Manny. He walked Matthyse. I didn’t even think he’d walk him through that easily. But he changed. He abandoned Freddie [Roach] and proceeded to Buboy. ”
