CLEVELAND — The Boston Celtics will break star shield Kyrie Irving contrary to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Irving is averaging 23.8 points, and the Celtics wish to maintain him fresh as possible going into the postseason.

Irving played with his first six seasons with Cleveland. The six-time All-Star required a trade following a 2016-17 season and has been dealt with Boston. He’s not played Cleveland since the 201718 opener.

Celtics center Al Horford (sore left knee) and forward Jayson Tatum (rear contusion) can return Tuesday. Coach Brad Stevens said both were”suspicious to likely” at the team’s shootaround.
