Conor McGregor asserts he is retiring from the sport for its 2nd time in three years.

Late Monday night, the prior two-division UFC champion made a surprise statement via Twitter that said he had decided to call it a career.

“Hey guys quick statement, ” ’ve decided to retire from the sport officially referred to as “mixed-martial Art” today,” McGregor wrote.

“I need all my older colleagues well going forward in contest. I now join my former partners within this partnership, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas! ”

Now this isn’t the very first time which McGregor has sent shockwaves through the sport world because of these impromptu announcements.

Back 2016 while in the midst of contract negotiations with the UFC over his next fight, McGregor made an identical announcement that ended up as one of the most mentioned tweets of the season.

“Thank you to your cheese. Grab ’s later. ”

That proved to be a very short lived retirement as McGregor has been denying his return to act immediately after that original article. At the time, McGregor was in a heated discussion together with the UFC over his next fight and also the media obligations that surrounded the promotion of the occasion.

Cooler heads finally prevailed and McGregor forced his return which August to get a rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202.

This latest episode may be an identical situation once McGregor had merely stated throughout an appearance on “The Tonight Show” which he had been targeting a recurrence in July but nothing has been a done deal just yet.

Because he may be the main draw at the heritage of the sport, McGregor knows he’ll ultimately garner the most attention, which speaks to his own urge to headline the series.

Yet it seems both sides might possibly have come to an impasse, which then result in McGregor’s impromptu retirement. Only time would tell if McGregor was seriously interested in calling it a lifetime career or if that was a negotiating tactic to create the UFC back into the table again.
