The Korean group has predicted in its own closed surface experts to get Corsica linea – Tour de Corse (28 – 31 March) after lacklustre effects in Mexico earlier this month sent it sliding to third from the manufacturers’ standings.
Sébastien Loeb (previously ), the sport’s most successful driver with eight world titles to his name, heads Hyundai’s Corsica roll of honor. He scored four consecutive wins from 2005 to 2008.
Thierry Neuville, that trails leader Ott Tänak by 10 points at the drivers’ string, won the rally two years ago. In addition, he scored an Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) success in 2011. Spain’s Dani Sordo scored an IRC victory the following year.
Last season’so appearance with Citroën has been Loeb’s Corsica outing since 2008, but the Frenchman retains an appetite for the mountain roads.
“It’s a excellent place for rallying so that whilst the French round of this championship, it’s a very special setting for mepersonally. A very technical rally, you can find lots of diverse kinds of road with several wondrous locations and some fast sections. In reality, it appears to get faster each year.
“It’therefore tricky to find the perfect rhythm during every point, and also the weather may also play a powerful variable — some times raining in the mountains but drier near to the shore,” he said.
Team manager Andrea Adamo confessed only two podiums no wins against the opening three rounds was not ideal, but anticipated Corsica would fetch a big change in luck.
“The first start of season might not have delivered the results we all have been here in order to fight , however there have been advantages that provide us cause for optimism,” he said.
“As a team, tarmac operation was a location on which we focused significantly final season, with developments all through this entire year. ”
