As expected, Casey Kenney is becoming his UFC shot, though maybe not in the way he expected.

The 26-year-old Legacy Struggling Alliance star has stepped in on less than 1 week’s detect for Kyler Phillips to battle Ray Borg (11-3) at UFC on ESPN two that Saturday at Wells Fargo Center at Philadelphia, officials announced Tuesday.

Phillips himself turned into a replacement for a wounded Pingyuan Liu. The reason behind Phillips’s withdrawal wasn’t disclosed.

Kenney (11-1-1) had but predicted his shot a week ahead of his main event bout with Vincent Cachero last Friday, which had been to get an interim bantamweight title.

Oddly, just before this particular bout, Kenney was already ranked No. 15 from the UFC’s official flyweight ranks.

UFC on ESPN two will likely be headlined by a lightweight bout between Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethjeand also the main card broadcasting on live on ESPN that Saturday.
