For first time since 2001, the Cup series champion will be determined in a track apart from Homestead-Miami Speedway while the championship finale goes into ISM Raceway near Phoenix. The season will also end on Nov. 8, about a couple of weeks sooner than normal.

The 20 20 Cup season will begin in Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 16, but after that it features significant date movement including a three-race West Coast swing which begins just following the Daytona opener.

Daytona will be followed by Las Vegas, Auto Club Speedway, ISM Raceway and also the Homestead race date will slip in on March 22.

Other changes throughout the 26-race routine season range from the movement of the very first race in Martinsville (Va.) Speedway from March to May 9 (per nighttime ); Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s race will now take place on July 4 weekend and also Pocono will host a double header of Cup races around June 27-28, in the place of two race weekends throughout the summertime.

Daytona’s moment date will go on to Aug. 29 since it will host the regular season finale — the last chance for drivers to get their way to the play offs.

“both the fans as well as the industry in general have been vocal about the urge to have sweeping improvements to this schedule, and also the 20 20 slate can be a reflection of the efforts to execute against that feedback,” said Steve O’Donnell,” NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing improvement officer.

“These changes are a consequence of unprecedented consensus-building together with all our race monitors along with broadcast spouses; some thing we all turn to last into 2021 and beyond. ”

In addition to this brand new season finale, the play offs will even observe a change with Darlington (S.C.) Raceway now hosting the playoff opener on Sept. 6. Nevada, that has been hosting the playoff opener as this past season, will fall into the very first race of the 2nd round on Sept. 27.

And NASCAR will also add another brief path to the play offs, whilst the Bristol Night Race goes into Sept. 1-9, the cut off race of the very first round.

Together with Phoenix’s go on into the season finale, Martinsville’s fall race will turn into the cut off race of this semi final round of the play on Nov. 1.
