Henry Cejudo will really attempt to become a two-division winner this summer.
Cejudo, the UFC’s current flyweight winner, and top-ranked bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes are officially scheduled to collide June 8 UFC 238 with the empty 135-pound name on the line. The UFC declared the booking Wednesday.
Cejudo and also Moraes will vie for the UFC bantamweight belt which was vacated by T.J. Dillashaw following his recent failed USADA drug evaluation.
Cejudo (14-2) needed just 32 minutes to knock Dillashaw this past January at Dillashaw’s failed bid for the flyweight title at UFC Brooklyn. The magnificent victory punctuated a four-fight win series for Cejudo, which also watched the Olympic gold medalist dethrone mythical flyweight winner Demetrious Johnson via split decision in August 2018.
Moraes (22-5-1), meanwhile, is now your No. 1-ranked contender at the UFC’s bantamweight branch. The prior WSOF winner has won four successive fights against well-regarded foes John Dodson, Aljamain Sterling, Jimmie Rivera, also Raphael Assuncao. The previous three of those names, Moraes finished in the first round.
