Three-time champion Roger Federer eased in the quarter-finals of This Miami Open Having a straight-set victory over Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
Switzerland’s Federer, who won the title in 2017, beat the 13th seed 64 6-2 in one hour and one second.
Even the 37-year-old fourth seed, who hit 22 winners and won nine of the last 11 games, will play South Africa’s Kevin Anderson from the previous eight years.
“I presumed it had been an interesting game,” Federer said.
“You will find long rallies, tactical points. The huge points went way and that was the gap.
“I am working out great this week and hope I can keep this up in the subsequent round”
World number five Federer has lost to Anderson only one time in six meetings, coming at Wimbledon in 2018.
Anderson beat Australia’s Jordan Thompson 7-5 7-5 to reach the quarter finals in Miami.
“Kevin is just a superb player, he has among amazing serves from the match right now,” Federer said.
“in the usa on hard mates, that is his cup of tea, but I am playing well and I hope I can bother him”
