IBF junior lightweight champion Tevin Farmer, won three championship spells in 2018, and when it came to deciding on the “2018 Philly Fighter of the Year” Briscoe Award, Farmer proved to be unbeatable. In buff votes, Tevin headed the field of nominees to earn the highest honor at the Briscoe Awards, which will soon be presented on April, 14, 20-19, in Xfinity Live! In South Philadelphia.
“It’s an honor, Farmer said about being called the “Philly Fighter of the Year”. “I say it’s an honor because we have a lot of great fighters in Philadelphia. Anyone might have gotten this award, however I first started using it. This ’so big. ”
Last August, Farmer defeated Australian Billy Dib by unanimous 12-round choice to win the vacant IBF belt, and then defended it twice before the close of the season. Back in October, Farmer Knockedout Irishman James Tennyson at Boston, because of his first title defense, and then decisioned Francisco Fonseca of Costa Rica in Newyork ’s Madison Square Garden to shut out his year. Recently he also defended his title for a third time in Philadelphia.
The only current world champion from Philadelphia also got the “Performance of the Year” award because of his title-winning effort against Dib. Farmer has won Briscoe awards four previous occasions, which makes these his fifth and sixth Briscoe trophies.
“This means that a lot, Farmer said. “And that I ’m definitely gonna be there. ”
The awards, named after Philly middleweight boxing superstar Bennie Briscoe, have been recognizing the most useful achievements of the Philly boxing scene since 2007.

The Philadelphian also made the award for the “Performance of the Year”, dependent on his title-winning effort against Billy Dib. Farmer and several other sailors will soon be honored at the 12th Annual Briscoe Awards, also a public event held in Xfinity Live! Philadelphia.
Henderson won the exciting struggle, but both combatants will require home a Briscoe Award.
Additionally, one photographer will triumph a Briscoe Award for the “2018 Photo of the Year”, at the live event on April 14 th.
Two honorary Briscoe Awards for life achievement, will also be given at the event.
The Briscoe awards have been called for Philly star Bennie Briscoe, who’d a 20-year boxing career and totally embodied the traditional Philly fighter.
