Scarlets’ New Zealand-born straight back Johnny McNicholl says that the recent birth of his Welsh girl is a major incentive to at least one day wear the federal jersey.

Wing or full back McNicholl has scored 27 attempts in 59 appearances since joining Scarlets in 2016 also has recently signed a new long term deal which will see him be eligible for Wales in December, 2019 on residency grounds. The residency rule will be expanded to five years instead of three at the very close of 2020.

Talking with BBC Sport Wales’ Lauren Jenkins, the 28-year-old also explains why he’s excited about working with former representative and Crusaders trainer , who will take over from Wales coach-elect next season.
