Marqise Lee needed 119 receptions for the Jaguars in 2016 and 2017 but missed the entire 2018 season later he suffered a knee injury in the third preseason match.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Marqise Lee was living in the livingroom of this condo he possesses in vegas, relaxing after another rehab session, even when he discovered that a tremendous boom from another room.

The ceiling had dropped throughout a rare snowfall, dumping debris all over the bathroom. Luckily, he wasn’t hurt.

“It had been crazy,” Lee stated. ”

Unfortunately, it dropped right in keeping with this Jaguars receiver’s beyond eight weeks.

Lee was shooting over the function as team’s top receiver later registering a staffing contract expansion worth around $38 million last March, but he also suffered a torn left ACL during the third preseason game against Atlanta. He underwent surgery three days after, where he also had his PCL mended, and missed that the 2018 season.

It had been a devastating moment for a player who had shaken off the”injury-prone” label early in his career to get to be the Jaguars’ many persistent receiver, and he said he took him a while to overcome this set back. Now that he can observe the start of this 20-19 offseason conditioning program looming, Lee is finally able to focus on his eventual return, build up a rapport with new quarter back Nick Foles and allow the team’s young receivers develop.

“First month or two were hella tough — hella,” Lee stated. “Merely because I never really managed a injury this big. I had hamstring injuries and hauled outside games, but nothing beats this. I had never been in the specific problem as far as focusing on how to take care of it.

Little bit before schedule. ”

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said earlier this week that Lee was slightly before everything the team expected, however he wasn’t expecting Lee to be fully emptied until late in the preseason. That means Lee will continue to work off into both sides during the offseason conditioning program and also coordinated team tasks, which might put him slightly behind the remainder of the offense in picking up new co ordinator John DeFilippo’s system.

When Lee catches up, Marrone said he’ll become a major portion of this retooled offense.

“Listed ’s what I enjoy on Marqise Lee: Every time I talk to him, he’s atmosphere betterhe has a grin on his face, and he’s dying for straight back,” Marrone stated. “” I think whenever you see players that are injured and possess that type of mindset or saying, that makes you feel good as a trainer. He’s eager. He’s becoming prepared to go. Of course we lost alot last year when we lost him.

“everybody knows that Marqise can be a guy that’ll go inside and get rough and dirty, whatever period you wish to use. He even did a heckuva job within our running game and really did a good job making sure everybody in that room, the younger guys, followed lawsuit with that. You lose that if people players aren’t around. ”

The Jaguars should get an important boost whenever Lee does return.

However, Keelan Cole has been a disappointment in his second season. Cole had nearly the identical quantity of receptions since he did as a beginner (38, only four shy of his 20 17 total), but his yardage dropped considerably — from 748 into 491 — and he had been benched after falling five passes and losing two fumbles in October.

He caught 14 passes for 174 yards and missed five of their last six games as a result of quad injury.

The Jaguars signed freeagent Chris Conley earlier this month. He’s enormous (6-foot-3), fast (4.35 40-yard dash at the combine in 2015) and gives the Jaguars a profound threat, but he has only 104 catches in his first 4 seasons.

The Jaguars demonstrably need Lee to be a impactful player in 20-19, and though he said he’s eager to get back, he’s not likely to risk any setbacks.

“My thing is that I understand where I would like to be and exactly what I want to do for the season, but at the end of your afternoon, I’t must keep it real with all the injury I’m coming straight from,” said Lee, who has 171 career catches for 2,166 yards and eight TDs. “Could ’t return back and attempt to hit it, hit ithit it.

“… we all know what we have to do as a team. The expectation is there for people to do some thing. My focus is really getting my knee right. Simply making sure I’m ready, slightly ready when that time comes for me to play when they clear me . ”
