Doudou, 3-7, weighed in 174.3 pounds. The fight card on ESPN starts at 10:00 p.m. ET.
Doudou is a strange choice for both Gvozdyk to be earning his first defense of his WBC title against, since the France based fighter was defeated by Igor Mikhalkin by a 12 round decision two struggles ago. There really certainly are a great deal of other more acceptable contenders that Gvozdyk may have been put in with as opposed to some guy with nearly ten beats on his resume. It’therefore unclear why Leading Rank picked Doudou out for Gvozdyk to struggle besides it being a struggle that he’s nearly sure to win and look good doing so. Doudou is coming off a 12 round majority decision win over Yoann Kongolo last might. You can’t say the win over Kongolo earned the struggle against Gvozdyk, because this is a voluntary defense for its Ukrainian fighter.
Gvozdyk’s last struggle against former WBC 175 lb champion Adonis ‘Superman’ Stevenson last November ended liberally with Stevenson suffering a head injury which put him in a healthcare facility. Stevenson, 41, finished up requiring operation that left him in a coma for some time later.
“This is part of the game,” Gvozdyk believed to ESPN.com. “We are assumed to be professionals. It’SA gloomy situation, however (Stevenson is) becoming improved. I’theres not feeling any burden because he’s doing good. Still recovering, however as much as I know he’s doing good. ”
Unclear how Gvozdyk would have gone against a younger Stevenson. The manner that Stevenson’d Gvozdyk appearing hurt at the 10th round, it’so hard to predict exactly what the outcome could have been had the two fulfilled five to seven years earlier in the day.
There are a number of great fights available for Gvozdyk in the division if his promoters at Best Rank Boxing are onboard with making them. IBF winner Artur Beterbiev, WBA champ Dmitry Bivol, WBO belt holder Sergey Kovalev and exceptionally rated competitor Marcus Browne would be great options for Gvozdyk when he along with his promoters at Best Rank are all prepared to help make the conflicts. Considering the sort of competition that Gvozdyk will be matched against in Doudou, it’s potential that Top Rank will look to attempt to turn him in to a superstar the easy way by fitting him against beatable guys rather than the fighters who may possibly defeat him like Bivol, Beterbiev, Kovalev and Browne. Gvozdyk is going to need to throw far more punches to beat those fighters than that which he showed in his struggle with Stevenson. Gvozdyk was losing the struggle because he wasn’t projecting enough powers, and he looked timid. To beat the most effective, Gvozdyk has to let his hands . He’s not a massive enough puncher to test and try a knockout late in the struggle when he’so behind on the scorecards because he hasn’t pitched enough shots.
In other weights over your card, welterweight Kudratillo Abdukakhorov (15-0, 9 KOs) weighed in at 145.8 pounds because of his 1 2 round scheduled IBF 147 pound title eliminator against Keita Obara (20-3-1, 18 KOs). The winner of the struggle will be the International Boxing Federation mandatory challenger to winner Errol Spence Jr.. Abdukakhorov, 25, is a talented fighter, but he’therefore perhaps maybe not shown the sort of ability that implies that he’ll do well against Spence. Obara, 32, weighed in 146.2 pounds.
