Champions Bayern Munich stumbled on a 1 1 draw at Freiburg to hand the Bundesliga top position back again to Borussia Dortmund, who overcome Wolfsburg 2-0.
Bayern, who had won 13 of the previous 14 league games, phased out Lucas Hoeler’s third minute goal with Robert Lewandowski’s 199th Bundesliga goal in the 22nd minute.
But the Poland striker’s magnificent volley was perhaps not enough and he wasted a bagful of gold scoring chances in the 2nd half, including a point blank header, as well as hit the woodwork in stoppage time.
Bayern are about 6-1 points, two behind Dortmund whom they’ll meet a few weeks.
RB Leipzig, that are third on 49, sponsor Hertha Berlin later on Saturday.
