Felice Herrig will miss out on fighting in front of her hometown crowd in June.

On Tuesday afternoon, the UFC strawweight contender took to Instagram to reveal a torn ACL has forced her out of her scheduled fight against Yan Xiaonan at UFC 238 in Chicago.

“Unfortunately on Friday I tore my ACL and I do need surgery, which means I will not be fighting on [UFC 238]” Herrig said in the video. “I just want to say I’m sorry to the fans, to the UFC and most definitely my opponent. I hope she gets a replacement, there’s still enough time. As for me, what can you do? All I can do is move forward and stay positive and work on my recovery and come back stronger than ever. In the mean time, I hope everybody send me warm wishes and hugs and virtual kisses and prayers. Just know that I will be back.”

Herrig (14-8), a veteran of Season 20 of , was looking to get back into the win column after dropping a pair of decisions to former Invicta FC champion Michelle Waterson and former UFC title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Prior to these setbacks, the woman known as “Lil’ Bulldog” strung together four straight wins over Kailin Curran, Alexa Grasso, Justine Kish and Cortney Casey.

Xionan (10-1) is currently riding a three-fight win streak inside the Octagon.

UFC 238 is slated to go down on June 8 inside the United Center in Chicago, Ill.
