Just weeks after pushing his Octagon record to 2-0 with a victory over Thomas Gifford, the undefeated lightweight prospect Roberts has agreed to face Vinc Pichel on June 29 at UFC Minneapolis. UFC officials confirmed the booking to MMA Fighting on Tuesday.
A Bellator veteran and product of the UFC’s Contender Series, Roberts (8-0) debuted in the Octagon last November with a first-round submission of Darrell Horcher. He followed that up by outpointing Gifford en route to a unanimous decision at UFC Sunrise.
A 25-year-old native of Miami, Roberts has finished all but one of his professional victories, notching four submissions and three KO/TKOs.
Pichel (11-2), meanwhile, looks to rebound after suffering a second-round submission defeat to Gregor Gillespie last June.
A 36-year-old veteran of , “From Hell” has racked up a 4-2 overall record in the UFC, punctuated by victories over Damien Brown and Joaquim Silva. Since returning from a three-year hiatus from mixed martial arts in 2017, Pichel has competed three times in the UFC, with 2018 tying the most active year of his Octagon career.
UFC Minneapolis takes place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The event is set to air on ESPN and is headlined by a welterweight rematch between former UFC champions Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler.
