This is The A-Side Live Chat on MMA Fighting.
The two will give their reaction to chaos from UFC 238, which went down on Saturday in Chicago. In the night’s main event fans saw UFC flyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo buzz through former WSOF champion Marlon Moraes to claim a vacant bantamweight title. What’s next for the UFC’s newest double champ? Should he stay at 135 pounds or drop back down to defend his 125-pound title? Oh yeah, and what about his “hit list” of Dominick Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, Urijah Faber and the UFC’s featherweight division? What about Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan? Have they done enough to earn a shot at Cejudo’s new belt?
We’ll also look at UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko’s violent destruction of Jessica Eye in the co-main event. Is there anyone on the UFC’s roster who can challenge “The Bullet” or should we expect a long and dominant reign from the champion?
We’ll also speak about Tony Ferguson’s “controversial” TKO win over Donald Cerrone on the main card. Should fans be upset about the referee waving the fight off? Should Cerrone have been allowed to continue fighting? Will the UFC book the immediate rematch or was that performance finally enough to earn Ferguson his long-awaited shot at the UFC lightweight title? Oh, and what about that late punch after the horn?
Also on tap, we’ll preview the upcoming Bellator 222 in Madison Square Garden. Will welterweight champion Rory MacDonald erase the memories of his last two performances or will Neiman Gracie’s run through the Welterweight Grand Prix continue? Can bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell get revenge against Rizin FF champion Kyoji Horiguchi now that the rematch is inside a cage? What about Dillon Danis, Valerie Loureda and Heather Hardy? Will they prove they belong on one of the biggest cards in Bellator history? What can we expect from Chael Sonnen vs. Lyoto Machida? Is this a legitimate battle for the number one contender spot at light heavyweight?
