Top strawweight prospect Mackenzie Dern is expected to make her return to action against Amanda Ribas at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card on Oct. 12.

Multiple sources close to the contest confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Monday following an initial report from ESPN. As of now, the UFC has not announced a venue for the Oct. 12 card.

The fight will serve as Dern’s first action since May 2018 when she submitted Amanda Cooper to move her UFC record to 2-0. Following that fight, Dern took a sabbatical from fighting to give birth to her daughter.

Now ready to resume her career, Dern will look to keep her record perfect when she returns to action in October.

Meanwhile, Ribas is coming off a submission victory in her UFC debut after she finished Emily Whitmire back in June.

Ribas is 7-1 overall in her career as she looks to stop Dern’s momentum after joining the UFC roster as one of the most highly touted additions to the women’s divisions.

A strawweight showdown between former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson is expected to headline the UFC Fight Night card on Oct. 12.
