Alex Schoenauer is an MMA veteran and a professional stuntman, but it’s hard to imagine a more dangerous scenario than the one his latest job interview put him in.

MMA Fighting confirmed with Schoenauer that he has issued multiple lawsuits after being shot with a round of live ammunition at a recent audition. The story was first reported by TMZ.

Schoenauer is claiming that during an audition for JMP Productions last September in Southern California, he and a stuntwoman were asked to enter through a door while carrying semi-automatic rifles. The stuntwoman’s weapon allegedly fired a live round that, per TMZ, struck Schoenauer’s upper arm/shoulder from behind.

The extent of the injuries is unclear, but Schoenauer told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz that he is still doing rehab and “almost died, but was super lucky.”

According to TMZ, Schoenauer is suing the production company, the stuntwoman, and the stunt coordinator, who Schoenauer claims wanted the guns to be loaded with live ammunition.

Schoenauer, 43, retired from MMA competition almost 10 years ago with a 15-10 pro record. He is perhaps best known for being a cast member on the inaugural season of .
