New York Jets starting linebacker Avery Williamson tore an ACL in Thursday’s night’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons and is done for the season, a source confirms.
Williamson led the team with 120 tackles last season, and played 99.3% of the Jets’ defensive snaps, the fourth-highest percentage by any linebacker in the NFL last season.
He has started 59 consecutive games dating back to 2015 Week 7, which is the third-longest active streak for any linebacker and the longest for any inside linebacker.
The Jets did sign C.J. Mosley at inside linebacker this offseason, giving him $51 million guaranteed, the largest guarantee for an inside linebacker ever.
Williamson’s injury was first reported by NFL Network.
